Performance Features of the 2021 ID.4

All-Electric with Pep and Power

As more manufacturers are busy designing their first entries in the EV market, Volkswagen already released its EV debut. The debut of the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 showcased the automaker’s engineering prowess while maintaining its iconic design aesthetic. As more drivers show interest in owning electric vehicles, the interest in the 2021 VW ID.4 performance features are setting the standard for SUVs with electric motors.

See what the fuss is all about when scheduling a test drive of the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 today at Volkswagen of Gainesville.

EV Performance Impresses

Volkswagen released three trim levels with the ID.4, and they all come with the same performance features. Whether you’re driving the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S, 1st Edition, or Pro, you’ll get to enjoy either the single rear-mounted motor with rear-wheel drive or the dual-motor with all-wheel drive. Real-wheel-drive ID.4 models deliver 201 horsepower, while the all-wheel-drive model delivers 302 horsepower.

Having a second engine affects the zero-to-60 speeds. With rear-wheel drive, the ID.4 goes from zero to 60 in 7.6 seconds. Adding a second engine speeds up the zero-to-60 rate to 5.4 seconds.

When considering the 2021 VW ID.4 performance features, remember that electric vehicles do not have transmissions, but they do have torque. The ID.4 delivers 209 pound-feet of torque in the single-engine model. If you’ve never driven an EV, the torque comes as a big surprise, as it immediately engages when you step on the accelerator.

Range, Charging, and Regenerative Braking

Range and charging are important aspects of any electric vehicle’s performance features. Even though it doesn’t have a gas tank, the ID.4 with all-wheel-drive gets an EPA-estimated 104/89 MPGe, while the rear-wheel-drive model gets 107/91 MPGe. The better city mileage is thanks to technology like regenerative braking that helps preserve range.

The 2021 ID.4 performance features involve the 77 kWh battery pack that offers an EPA-estimated range of 260 miles between charges. Drivers can use 110-volt or 240-volt charging. Level-2 charging with a 240-volt connection adds about 25 miles to the battery in about an hour. So, an overnight charge of about 7 to 11 hours adds a full charge.

With a DC fast charger, the ID.4 collects about 60 miles of range in 10 minutes. Each ID.4 comes with three years of complimentary unlimited charging at Electrify America DC Fast Charging.
