Overview

Volkswagen brings its Golf back with a lot of updates and the 2010 Volkswagen Golf is available in both two and four-door models. Now in its sixth generation, the Golf derives power from an athletic and highly fuel efficient TDI clean diesel engine. With a number of options, the 2010 Volkswagen Golf come as an ideal choice for folks who want a handsome looking, driving and fun-to-drive compact car. The 2010 Volkswagen Golf is an altogether different Gold offering the best of fuel economy, more vigor and better usability.

Power and performance

The Golf is available with a choice of two engines: a 2.5-liter inline 5-cylinder gasoline engine rated at 170 hp or the 50-state compliant, 2.0-liter four-cylinder clean diesel TDI engine making 140 horsepower. A five-speed manual transmission is standard on the two-door model while a six-speed automatic gearbox with Tiptronic control is standard on the four-door with manual shift of gears. The manual transmission with the 2.5L engine delivers 22 mpg in the city, and 30 mpg on the highway. With the six-speed automatic transmission one can get 23 mpg in city driving and 30 mpg for highway travel. A traditional six-speed manual transmission comes standard on the clean diesel TDI, and is good for an EPA-estimated 30 mpg during city travel and 41 mpg on the highway.

Body and styling

The new face of the Volkswagen, the Golf sports a black front grille, runs on 15-, 17-inch steel and alloy wheels with rear/driver side/"Golf" badge, anti-intrusion side door beams, body color door handles, dual-reflector halogen headlamps with clear, lightweight, chip resistant polycarbonate lenses, Daytime Running Lights (DRL), fog lights and an optional power glass sunroof with tilt, slide, tinted glass, manual sunshade, pinch protection, and driver's door power lock operated convenience closing feature. Manual single-zone climate control (Climatic), CFC-free, cruise control, Cruise control, AM/FM radio sound system with single CD player, MP3 format readable, and 8 speakers (2.5L), power windows, Me2 cloth seat fabric upholstery, touch screen premium VIII AM/FM radio with in-dash 6-disc CD Changer, MP3 format readable, satellite radio compatible, 8 speakers, theft-deterrent warning light and coding system (satellite radio factory installed only on TDI).
